The collection was formed in the first half of the 20th century.

"Extremely carefully made and beautifully woven are the raincapes from our territory, they have the same shape as ones known from the Bismarck Archipelago and the Solomon Islands, but are very strong, nearly indestructible, decorated with several rows of small knots and carefully painted."
