This superb insika is the finest example I have seen of this type of architectural panel, used to partition and decorate the interior of elite Tutsi homes. Its concave shape was made to fit the rounded and curved walls and columns on which these graphic objects were displayed, while its beautiful sheen and fine weave reflects the exceptional quality of the workmanship, down to the selection and processing of the fine grass materials.

In excellent condition. This piece comes with a detailed early provenance.
